Where does CocoMia come from?

My company’s name is a combination of my mother’s nickname and my daughter’s name. The silhouette in the logo honors my mother and of the favorite picture we have of her. The colors are from my daughter first bedroom. I asked her, when she was 5 years old, what color do you want your room painted? Pink! she said. It turned out a French inspired pink, white and brown.

The Ropero

The Ropero is my muse. There is a song from my childhood that tells the story of a boy asking his grandmother to unlock her wardrobe (ropero) so she can show him all the treasures that she keeps in it.

When I saw this wardrobe at an antique store, it sent me right back to my childhood song. This wardrobe also has a beveled glass door that reminds me of the first job I ever wanted: department store window dresser. I loved staring into store front windows, having my Breakfast at Tiffany’s moment.

Now I keep my treasures and creations inside my very own Ropero. Welcome!

What is Pssst?

Here’s a little story

When my oldest son started Kindergarten, I wanted to yell out to him “I love you” as he would run into school each morning, but I was afraid it would embarrass him. One evening I said that I had a secret word for him. When he would hear me say “pssst”, it would not only get his attention, but it would also mean I love you!

He loved the idea and when he would hear me say it, he’d try to say it louder back to me. It was so much fun catching each other off guard when we’d say it.

He’s in his twenties now. We still use our secret word. He even writes it in our texts every time. We all use it in our family, and we have shared it with our closest friends and now we decided to brand it in some cute way. We hope you enjoyed our little story because … pssst!

Pillow Insert Reminders: Respect the Zipper

When removing the pillow insert, please take care to do so slowly. Try not to place too much pressure on the invisible zipper to avoid it getting jammed or knocked off the track. To be extra safe, try to compress the pillow as you draw the zipper and carefully take out the insert.

Time to go back in? Try folding the pillow like a taco before gently inserting it back into the case, being sure not to put stress on the corners of the zipper. Once the insert is in, and the zipper is zipped, make sure to fluff it up! Set the pillow where it belongs and give it a good karate chop in the top center. Got a pillow with a pattern along the top? Try chopping the sides to give it that designer waistline.

Pillow Care Instructions:

CocoMia pillows are dry-clean only, mainly because I work with delicate soft home furnishing fabrics. The pillows are lined to add another layer between the down/feather pillow inserts and the pillowcase.

If the pillowcase accidentally finds its way into the washing machine, the fabrics can shrink, and get knocked out of shape.

So, dry clean it is! Or, try Dryel: the At-Home Dry-Cleaner (Dry clean in your dryer).
